I Guess That's William of Kristol, not William of Ockham

Via Crooked Timber, I ran across this article by Jeffrey Bell and William Kristol which asks the question why it seems that so many high level Republicans have been getting indicted lately. Their implicit conclusion is that it must be some conspiracy by the 'liberal' justice system. It never seems to occur to them that it might just be because so many high level Republicans are criminals.

  • But... but... that CAN'T be right! They've got God on their side, don't they?

  • I haven't seen God actually declare his/her/their/its party affiliation yet. I think I'll wait until I hear it from the horse's mouth, so to speak.

  • William Kristol, founding member of PNAC and "Godfather" of the neo-con movement, doesn't criticize high level republicand from his groupd. Quelle surpise!

Bush could eat a live kitten on live TV while molesting one of his daughters, and Kristol would still claim that it was the right thing to do under the circumstances or that it was a 'liberal plot'.

This guy is the Von Ribbentrop of the Bush admin.

  • Funny, I had this same discussion over at Peter Rempel's blog (yeah, yeah, I know) and came to the same conclusion you did, Declan.

By the way, I have it on good authority that God votes a straight New Sewage and Rat Catching Party ticket.

  • Von Ribbentrop?

That reference is from before my time, but I'm guessing your referring to someone from the third reich which suggests to me that you are overestimating Kristol's importance by comparing him to someone whose name is still remembered (by some, anyway) 60 years later.

Timmy - funny you should mention sewage, rats and Rempel's blog all in the same comment.
