Team!! Collusion

It's not exactly the words of the prophet, but I still found this message's unusual combination of incoherence and accuracy oddly endearing (click the picture to enlarge).

Incidentally, this is across the street from the aforementioned 'Estates', for those not familiar with the area.

Who thinks that David Emerson will run in the next federal election? Please note that comments speculating on the timing of said election will be deleted.

  • Not me. But it would be amusing if I turned out to be wrong.

  • I somehow doubt he'll make another run... but ya never know. And the election will be held on...

  • Well, he said he would run again, but I guess he also said he was
running as a Liberal, so I guess we need to take what he says with a grain of salt - it's not as though he has any credibility left to lose by flip-flopping again.

I suspect that Harper & Co. won't want to give the media such a
reminder of hypocrisy past, especially given that Emerson running seems like a lost cause in terms of winning a seat.

  • If he does it will be a real life test of the most f of Edmund Burke's lecture to those who had elected him, the first and the last time he won a genuine election. He wrote to the Electors of Bristol, his constituents, noisily notifying them of his view that he was not bound to pesent their point of view in the Commons and he would vote his own conscience. He was repaid for this impudence by losing the next election and after that he scurried around to find a patron, and soon enough a rich landlord who owned a seat, a rotten borough as they caled it, came to his rescue. And so he was able to return to the Commons and spend 14 years boring the daylights out of the place with speeches stuffed with platitudes that went on, sometimes, for days. Now Emerson did not quite do all that, he repudiated his constituents by jumping the Party ship so soon as he was elected. But it would be interesting to see if electors stil feel the same way they did in the 18th Century. I suspect he will not even run but go to a corporate job where some will welcome him for having accompanid the soft wood sellout through Parliament. You have to admit it would be an interesting test of one of Harper's two main mentors, Burke. The next Federal election will be a test of the ideas of the other one, Leo Strauss.

  • i miss all the speculation that hes going to be shipped to a safe seat up north, where people dont have tv and the radio just relays bear attack reports all day.

  • I just found out the other day that Vancouver has an all traffic station (24 hours a day apparently - I'm not sure what they talk about through the night.) Perhaps the North B.C. equivalent is 24 hour bear mauling radio.

Yep, it's definitely time to move on. I'm sure he'll enjoy spending more time with his family (while sitting on a few dozen corporate boards).
