Football Season

In the spirit of the blog abstract (top right) which states that I'll cover anything that's better than not posting at all, here's an excellent article about the (Donovan) McNabb deniers - the description of the bullying and ignorant radio talk show driven attitude taken by those who, for whatever reason, hate former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb is reminiscent of a number of political movements currently doing fairly well in elections.

Even if you couldn't care less about football, it's worth a read for the quality of the writing by Mike Tanier, and the generality of the phenomenon he describes.

  • Thanks Declan.

    It was worth the read.

And the hundreds of comments that follow.

    So erudite.

    So thoughtful.

So empty and missing the bigger point.....

  • I prefer the slightly more optimistic view that the author recognized the connections but chose to stick to the topic of football, but yeah it's funny in a way how our journalistic institutions still work the way they were meant to more for sports than they do for politics.
